I'm A Celeb runner-up Andy Whyment munches on a pasty during low-key day out with wife Nichola

He insisted fame won’t change him after coming second on the nineteenth series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

And Andy Whyment was true to his word as he was spotted chowing down on a pasty during a day out with wife Nichola in their home town of Atherton, Greater Manchester on Saturday.

The Coronation Street star, 38, cut a casual figure as he scoffed the flaky treat as he visited a tanning salon with his wife.

A far cry from the sunny climes of Australia, the star kept warmed in a brown padded jacket.

He teamed his outerwear with a pair of blue jeans and black trainers.

Meanwhile, Nichola also kept off the chill in a long padded coat and a beanie hat, completing her look with ripped skinny jeans and white trainers.

The actor, who plays Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap, looked pleased to be adjusting back to normal life after three weeks in the jungle.

It comes after Andy and his family enjoyed a taste of the A-list life on Tuesday as they jetted home from Australia in first class.

Sharing a snap from the journey home, he looked overjoyed while Nichola clutched a glass of champagne alongside their two children, Thomas and Hollie.

Andy insisted the fame he's won since leaving the jungle won't change him as he prepared for a return to civilisation.

Despite this, he still lived it up in first class, much to the delight of his nearest and dearest who were beaming widely.

He told The Mirror: ‘I'm looking forward to getting back and just getting into my normal boring life of just sitting on the sofa, getting home from work, closing the front door and watching telly.

‘Corrie's on series link, yeah, so I'll be catching up on Corrie. I always do. I'll still remain myself. I'll still go to Asda on a Friday, do the big shop with (wife) Nic.

‘But I know I'm going to get recognized a lot more now, which is, don't get me wrong, is nice, but it certainly won't change me.’

The Mancunian actor won a new legion of fans during his time on the long-running ITV show following a belated arrival alongside fellow actor Cliff Parisi.

But despite his popularity, Andy admits the strain of being away from wife Nichola and their two children, Thomas and Hollie, started to take its toll.

Reflecting on his reunion with Nichola after leaving the show as runner-up, the actor revealed he let his emotions get the better of him.

He explained:’I hadn't seen her before that, so I just burst into tears, just saying, “I just want to see her now, I want to see her now.”

‘They brought her down for me and it was just so nice to see her face because I've missed her so, so, so, so much. That's been the hardest thing.’
